Recent work

Every room is drawn from scratch, for one garden.

Nothing here came off a shelf. Size, glazing, cladding and layout were worked out on site, around the plot and the people using it.

What it’s for

Start with what the room has to do.

The design follows the use, not the other way round.

Work with a door that shuts and a walk back to the house at the end of the day. Insulated and fully wired, so it holds its temperature through a January deadline.

Construction

Built like a building.

A garden room earns its keep in winter, not on the day it’s photographed. Everything below is the standard spec, designed for year round use. It is not an upgrade list.

  1. 01

    Concrete base

Every room starts the way an extension does, with a poured concrete base rather than pads or plastic grids.

  2. 02

    100mm / 75mm insulation

100mm in the floor and roof, 75mm in every wall. The room holds its temperature in February and stays usable in August.

  3. 03

    Aluminium bifolds & windows

Aluminium framed bifold doors and windows that won’t warp, swell or stick with the seasons.

  4. 04

    GRP roof

A sealed fibreglass roof skin rather than felt, laid as one continuous surface.

  5. 05

    Certified electrics

Lighting and sockets installed as part of the build, with the electrical certification to go with them.

  6. 06

    Cladding to suit the garden

Cedar, larch or composite, chosen for how it sits against your planting, fencing and brickwork.

Design to installation

The person who measures up is the person who builds it.
